Volvo announces that all its cars will become electric

Volvo Cars has announced that every brand-new car launched in 2018 will be fitted with an electric motor, marking a historic end for vehicles that have only an ICE engine, Solidify its future business.

The announcement, one of the most important efforts of any automaker to
build electricity, also highlights how a century has passed since the invention of electric power generation by internal combustion engines, paving the way for a new chapter in automotive history .

"People are increasingly asking for electric cars, and we want to meet the needs of our current and future customers," said Hakan Samuelson, President and CEO. Now you can pick and choose whichever Volvo you want. "

Volvo Cars will offer a range of electric cars across a range of models, featuring fully electric cars, hybrid cars (using rechargeable batteries) and light hybrid cars.

Five full-size electric cars will be launched between 2019 and 2012, three of which will be Volvo models, while the other two will be high-performance electric cars from Volvo's high-performance Polstar. Full details will be revealed later.

The five-car range will be bundled with a choice of gasoline and diesel hybrid engines, as well as a 48-volt light hybrid, one of the broadest electric cars offered by any automaker.

This means that in the future there will be no Volvo cars without an electric motor. Internal combustion engines will be disposed of and replaced with internal combustion engines with electric motor options.

"This announcement marks the end of fuel-only vehicles," said Samuelson. "Volvo Cars has announced that it plans to sell a total of 1 million electric vehicles by 2025," he said. "When we promise to keep our promise, this is the way we will do it," he said.

Volvo says the announcement underscores its commitment to reducing the negative impact on the environment and making future cities cleaner. Volvo Cars is cutting carbon emissions from its products as well as its operations, and aims to make its manufacturing operations non-impacting the climate by 2025.

The decision follows the announcement this month that Volvo Cars will transform Polestar into a world-class independent high-performance electric vehicle company. Thomas Englath, Senior Vice President of Design at Volvo Cars, will lead Polestar as Chief Executive Officer.
